Frances Evelyn Gray 91, Indianapolis died 8:50 a.m. Tuesday in Ben Hur Nursing Home, Crawfordsville. Ms. Gray was a teacher in the Indianapolis school system for 33 years, teaching 4th grade. She retired from school No. 33 in 1977 and also taught for nine years at Waynetown. Her memberships included North United Methodist Church, Indiana where she volunteered to drive the elderly to church and meetings; Shepherd Center, a senior citizens organization within the church where she volunteered; Montgomery County and Indiana State REtired Teachers associations; Fidelis Bata Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority; and 50-plus years in Alamo Order of Eastern Star 498. She was a Waynetown HS graduate and a graduate of Terre Haute Teachers College where she received her master's. She was born June 8, 1912 at Waynetown to Cooper and Alice Gray Gray. Survivors include cousins in Iowa and Wisconsin. Two sisters, Dorothy Gray and Margaret Hartigan are deceased. Service are schedule 2 p.m. Thursday in Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 S Indiana 25, Waynetown with Rev. David Owen officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to services Thursday in the funeral home. - kbz
