Dale L. Gray, 52, of Rt. 8, Crawfordsville, died Thursday afternoon after being stricken with a heart attack while he was at the Thrifty Supply south of the city. He had owned and operated Gray Construction Co. for 24 years. He had attended Hillsboro schools and was a graduate of Waynetown High School. Mr. Gray served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Born Nov. 22, 1925, at Wallace, he was the son of Forrest and Ersie Shultz Gray. He was married Sept. 25, 1947, to Patricia Ruth Weaver who survives. He was a member of the First Christian Church, an honorary member of the International Triple A. Welders Association and a charter member of 798 Local, Tulsa, Okla. Surviving with the widow are three sons, Thomas Dale, William Dean and David Max, all of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Sandra Lucille and Janet Elaine, both of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Paul of Gaston and Dean of Noblesville; his parents of Waynetown; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Friendship Baptist church where the body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. The Revs. Homer Cochran and James Dunbar will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Burkhart Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
