CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (CNS) – George Gravett Jr., 47, of 501 S. Wabash, died at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday (March 14, 1972) at Culver Hospital. He had been hospitalized one day. Born June 4, 1924, at Waynetown, he was the son of George W. and Mary Bunnell Gravett. He was married Feb. 27, 1944, to Betty Fay, who survives. He attended Waynetown High and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps in India. He was a member of the Byron Cox American Legion Post 72 of Crawfordsville. He attended the Waynetown Baptist Church. A former resident of Waynetown, he had resided in Crawfordsville since 1951. He was a heavy equipment truck driver. Other survivors include a son, John R. at home; a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Ramey of Waynetown; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard, in 1959. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Friday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating, assisted by the Rev. Rob James. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. – jlr

George Gravett, Jr, 47, 501 S. Washington St, a heavy equipment trucker and World War II veteran died at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday in Culver Hospital, where he was admitted Monday. He had been ill for several months. He was a son of George W. and Mary Bunnell Gravett and was born June 4, 1924. He was attending Waynetown HS when he entered military service. Mr. Gravett served with the Army Air Corps in India. On Feb 27, 1944 he married Betty Fay of Waynetown who survives. He was a member of Byron Cox Post 72 American Legion and attended Waynetown Baptist Church. He had lived in Crawfordsville since 1951. Surviving besides his wife are a son, John Jr at home; a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Ramey of Waynetown; three grandsons and an uncle, Clifford Bunnell of Waynetown. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home with Revs. Guy E. Tremaine and Rob James officiating and interment in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Legionnaires will conduct military rites at the cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. - kbz
