The funeral of George W. Graham was held at half past 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at his late residence on East Main Street. Dr. Clarence Hall Wilson, pastor of Center Presbyterian Church and Dr. George L. Mackintosh, president of Wabash College conducted the services. There was a large number of floral offerings at the home, the flowers having been presented by friends of Mr. Graham and the various organizations to which he belonged. At the service a quartet, composed of Mrs. George F. Hughes, Mrs. SD Helm, Mr. George H. Hughes and Mr. Bernie Owens sang, If My Immortal Savior Lives then My Immortal Life is sure, Mr. Hughes also sang a solo, Why is thy Faith, oh child of God, so small. The pall bearers were Dan Rountree, John R. Bonnell, RC Walkup, Walter F. Hulet, Charles Goltra, Clark L. Goodbar, Judge Jere West and Moreland B. Binford. All of the employees of Mr. Graham’s store, the pall bearer and clergy rode in carriages ahead of the casket to Oak Hill Cemetery where the interment occurred. The body was lowered into the grave just as the sun went down. At the grave the quartet sang, Still, Still With Thee, and Dr. Wilson read Tennyson’s Crossing the Bar and then offered prayer. Although the funeral was private, the funeral procession was a long one, there being a large number of carriages that conveyed the people to the cemetery. – kbz
