Waynetown – Alva L. Grenard, 74 a native of Waynetown died at 6 a.m. Monday in the old Myrtle Johnson Home on the old Traction Road at Crawfordsville where he had lived since the death of his wife, formerly Lura Gilkey in 1953. He had been ill a month with a heart condition. Mr. Grenard formerly was a Rensselaer garage mechanic and later operated a service station and tourist camp at Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Rensselaer. Surviving is a brother, Arnet Grenard of Waynetown. The body was sent there. - kbz

Alva L. Grenard, 74, a former Crawfordsville gas station owner, died at 6 a.m. Monday in the home of Myrtle Johnson on Traction Road. He was born June 29, 1886, on the Grenard homestead one mile north of Waynetown. His parents were Simeon and Lennie Pierce Grenard. In 1910 he married Lura D. Gilkey in her home on Perrysville Road. He was a member of the Rensselaer Masonic Lodge. He worked as a garage mechanic in Rensselaer and later ran a gas station and tourist camp in Crawfordsville. He is survived by a brother, Arnet Grenard of Rt. 2, Waynetown, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mabel Grenard of Rt. 2, Waynetown. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Lewis Poore, pastor of the Waynetown Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr
