Word was received here this morning of the death at the Central hospital for the insane at Indianapolis of Mrs. Charles Green, who was committed there only last Fr. eve. Mrs. G's death is peculiarly sad, the conditions of her mental unsoundness being very unusual On Monday, July 14, she was badly frightened by the discharge of a shotgun. Some hunters who were in the neighborhood of her home on Indiana Ave. discharged the gun and the shot fell on the house. Part of the shot in its descent fell on her little nephew but did not hurt him in the least but the lad ran into the house crying that he had been shot. The shock of the announcement so worked on Mrs. Green that she became hysterical and soon completely lost her mind. A lunacy commission found her to be of unsound mind last Mon. and on Fri. she was taken to Ind. to the hospital. She was in a very weak physical condition and when she arrived at the hospital she was suffering from acute dementia, the excitement of the trip having completely used her up. She was in a bad condition all day Sat. and Sun. and this morning her condition became very critical. Despite the attention of the hospital physicians the unfortunate woman died this morning at 5 minutes past 9 o'clock. Mr. G. went to Indianapolis on the noon train today and will bring the body back here for interment, probably on an early train tomorrow. - typed by kbz
