Graves - Squire Bryant

New Ross Feb 1 -- The death of an old citizen of the vicinity occurred Friday Jan 30 at the home of his nephew, Emory Graves about 3 miles east of here. Squire Bryant GRAVES died on Friday evening at the age of 60 years 10 months and 23 days. He was the son of Richard and Jane Graves. He was the third one in a family of 9 children all of whom have preceded him to the great beyond except two sisters, Mrs. Emma Peterson of Indianapolis and Mrs. Margaret Patterson near Galveston, In and one brother, William Graves of Salem, Indiana. When 9 Mr. Graves suffered an injury to his spine which made him an invalid the rest of his life. He united with the Christian Church of this place under the ministration of Rev. James McCallum years ago and lived a faithful member until death. Since the death of his mother in 1900, he made his home with his sister, Mrs. Emma Peterson pf Indianapolis and his nephew, Emory Graves near New Ross. The funeral services were held at the Christian Church of this place this morning at 10, William P. Peterson conducted the services. The pall bearers were MR Powell; Turner Elliot; FJ Booher; AC Walters and Vora McLaughlin. Interment at Harshbarger Cem five miles SW of here. - typed by kbz
