The family and many friends of Mrs. Nettie M. Gossett, who lived one mile southeast of Jamestown were shocked at the sudden death of that estimable lady last Friday evening. It was thought here of late that she was in better health than usual and on that Friday afternoon she had been in Jamestown shopping and visiting her daughter, Mrs. Houk. After going home and eating a hearty supper she sat down by the fire and took up her knitting when suddenly she sank without a word and died with paralysis of the heart, only living about five minutes after being stricken. Mrs. Gossett had been in poor help all summer and fall; in fact she had never recovered from the strain occasioned by her husband’s death almost 7 months ago. Nettie Maria Coombs was born in Hendricks County May 14. 1848 and was married to Thomas A. Gossett Oct 25, 1865. To the union was born 7 children: three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Lamb, Mrs. Pearl Houk and Miss Louise and four sons: Everett who lives near Max; Orian, Omer and Carl. The husband preceded her to the great beyond April 15, 1899 after suffering untold misery for 16 months. The deceased was a Christian lady a kind and loving wife and mother, and was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. Interment took place at the IOOF cemetery north of Jamestown conducted by Rev…. Daugherty of Lizton, attended by the sorrowing family and a large concourse of friends. --- kbz
