Mrs. Ella Woolley Gooding, 78, a native of Montgomery County died Sunday afternoon at her home in Shelbyville. Born May 9, 1876, one mile south of Smartsburg, Mrs. Gooding was the daughter of Frank and Rachel Robertson Woolley. She married Charles Winford Gooding April 3, 1908. The husband died Feb 4, 1954. Mrs. Gooding, a former resident of Wallace and Grange Corner in Parke County, taught in the Jackson Township School in Fountain County for a number of years. She attended Wallace School and graduated from Danville Central Normal.
Mrs. Gooding was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church. Her husband was a farmer in the Wesley community for a number of years. She also was a member of the daughters of Union Veterans. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Thompson, Shelbyville and Mrs. Maurice Newman, Toronto, Canada; four grandsons and two sisters. - kbz
