ELMDALE – Alfred B. Goode, 71, a retired farmer, died at 7 p.m. Monday in Home Hospital at Lafayette where he had been a patient since Jan. 5. Mr. Goode was a member of the Elmdale United Methodist Church. He had been a farmer most of his life, retiring in 1964. He moved from Illinois in 1928 to the Jackson Heights community in Tippecanoe County. He resided in Linden from 1946 until moving here in 1956. He was born Feb. 15, 1897, near Summershade, Ky., to Frank and Laura Goode. He was married Oct. 4, 1921, at Edmonton, Ky., to Lillian Martin. Surviving are the widow; a son, Charles of West Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Howard McCarty of West Lafayette; a brother, Lawrence of Romney; three sisters, Mrs. Logan Chapman of Romney, Mrs. Velma Hayes of Edmonton, Ky., and Mrs. Vera Williams of Glasgow, Ky.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Richard Hankin of Frankfort, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen; a brother, and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Jean McCan officiating. Interment will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
