Darlington - Amos L. Goldsby, 80, died Friday night at 11:45 in his home after a period of extended illness. Goldsby was born near Jewett, Illinois Feb 26, 1882. His parents were Albert and Elizabeth Zink Goldsby. Goldsby had been a resident of Darlington 30 years, moving there from ILliois. Originally he worked as a carpenter in the Darlington area and after that owned and operated a slaughter house for 10 years. Mr. Goldsby and his wife, Claudia were married near his birthplace in 1907. Survivors include his wife; a son, Lowell of Darlington; 3 brothers, Ira of Newton, Ill; Omer of Marysville, KS; and Elza of Ashburn, Ill; 3 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren. Goldsby was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at the Bright Funeral Home in Darlington Monday at 3:30 p.m. Rev. A.L. Vermillion of Darlington Methodist Church will officiate. Burial at Odd Fellow Cemetery, Darlington. - kbz
