L. Earl Goff, 65, farmer in the Elmdale community for a number of years, died at 7:40 a.m. Monday in Culver Hospital. He had been a patient there since July 17. A fall at his home injured his back and required surgery at the hospital. However, his death was not attributed to the injury. Goff was born Feb. 26, 1897, at Elmdale. His parents were Amos S. and Anna VanCleave Goff. He married Twila L. Wright on Nov. 8, 1922, in Wheatland, Wyo. A member of the Coal Creek Farm Bureau, Goff had always farmed in that township except for a few years while he was in Wyoming. Goff is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Binford of Linden; two sons, Paul of New Richmond and Amos of Crawfordsville; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John B. Miller of Crawfordsville; a brother, Homer of Crawfordsville, and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Guy E. Tremaine will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery north of Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. - kbz
