William D. Gobel, 78, 124 ½ N. Green St., died of a heart ailment at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Culver Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. Mr. Gobel was born on Nov. 30, 1874 in New Market, the son of Daniel and Mary Howard Gobel. He married Allie Mae Foster in Linden on Dec. 27, 1903. He was a member of the V. F. W. Fathers' Auxiliary and the Crawfordsville Lodge No. 6 Loyal Order of Moose. Gobel spent almost his entire working life in the construction business. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Lucille Nunan, Mrs. Duetta Brown, Morris K. Gobel and Jesse E. Gobel all of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Guy Gobel of Lafayette and James Gobel of Pasadena, Calif.; one sisters, Mrs. Nora Shelton of Crawfordsville; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Last rites are to be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. John R. Servies. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Last rites were conducted Tuesday at the Proffitt and Sons Mortuary for William D. Gobel, who died Sunday at Culver Hospital. The Rev. John Servies officiated and burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mac Collins, Carl Earl, Bernard Massing, Chas. Armantrout, Byford Lemon and Joe Osborne. Mrs. Nellie Shepherd played the favorite hymns on the organ. A funeral retreat team from the Loyal Order of Moose composed of Gov. Joe Osborne; Past Governor Charles Armantrout; Prelate Bernard Massing and Junior Governor Byford F. Lemon, held rituals at the funeral home and at the graveside. - thanks to Lena
