WAYNETOWN -- R. E. (Ed) Gossett, 87, died at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where he had been a patient since last Monday. He had been seriously ill one month. Mr. Gossett, who resided six miles northwest of here, was born June 18, 1876 near Tangier, son of Amer and Mary Gossett. He was married in 1909 at Crawfordsville to Mary Emma Myers. She died in 1952. Mr. Gossett, a retired farmer, attended school in Parke County and resided all of his adult life in Fountain County. He was a member of the Interdenominational Church near Mellott. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ethel Ogle of Crawfordsville; a step-granddaughter, Miss Mary Ogle of Crawfordsville; a half-brother, Isom Gossett of Shepardsville; a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Servies Funeral Home here with Luther Nessbaum of Kokomo officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday.
