June 1, 1845 at the old Goslin homestead near Fincastle, Ind a son was born to James and Mary Goslin, the youngest of a family of 10 and this son was christened Winfield Scott Goslin. The most of his young life was devoted to his educ, farm industries and home. At the early age of 18, he enlisted as a member of the 167th Ind Vol Regt and was honorable discharge at the end of the war. Feb. 23, 1870, Winfield Scott Goslin and Peruette A. DOYEL were united in marr. To this happy union 5 children were born, 3 daughters and two sons. One dau and two sons died in infancy and Nannie L. Goslin Hicks, wife of Joseph A. Hicks passed away April 11, 1907. While yet a youth he united with the Chrisitan Church at Fincastle and served that Church as an active member until a change of locality not accessible to a Christian Church caused him to transfer his membership to the Baptist Church at Browns Valley. later, having moved to Waveland, he served the Baptist Church at that place as an active member in the capacity of deacon; Sun. School sup; active in choir service, sec. of Freedom Baptist Assoc for 20 years, besides serving in all departments of Church work and a more loyal member never belonged to a Masonic order than WS Goslin. A loving and devoted wife, Nettie A. Goslin, one dau, Maude, wife of Harry C. English of Gary, one grandson, Harper English and one sister, Sarah P. Turner of Roachdale survive him. In the passing away of this noble character the family, the Church, the lodge and the community at large are deprived of a loving, honest and true counsellor, and the greatest honor we can bestow on him now is that He was a good man because he was a Godly man - typed by kbz.
