Mrs. Fern Gilmore of Romney has been notified by the Dept. of War at Washington that her husband, Technical Sgt. Charles E. Gilmore was Killed in Action April 13, 1944, the day he was reported Missing in Action over Germany. The message was received last Thursday afternoon, June 15. Sgt. Gilmore was the son of Mrs. Grace Gilmore, and was born April 18, 1923, in the White Church neighborhood, where he spent his entire boyhood. He graduated from Bowers HS with the class of 1941, and was an outstanding player on their basketball team.
