Mrs. Bertha Gillock, 86, Rt. 8, Crawfordsville, died early Thursday morning in Culver Hospital. She had been ill three weeks and a patient in the hospital one day. She was born Jan. 18, 1884, at Hiltonville to Nepolion and Elizabeth Mize Deckard. She married John M. Gillock in July 1900. He died in April, 1939. Mrs. Gillock attended Smithville schools and was a member of Christian Church at Chapel Hill. She resided in the Crawfordsville community for 25 years and before that, in the Linden community for 12 years. Surviving are two sons, Emery E. Gillock and Emerson Gillock, both of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Ridge of Indianapolis; a brother, Homer Deckard of Hiltonville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters, two sons and two daughters. Services will be conducted by Rev. Carlyle Scott at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Helms Funeral Home at Linden. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at Romney. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. - jlr
