William Gillis, 48 years old, a well known resident of this city died at his home in Highland Friday evening from blood poisoning growing out of an acute attack of the grip. He had been ill for about a month and was taken to the hospital when the blood poisoning first appeared. An effort to relieve him proved in vain and he gradually became weaker until his life was despaired of. He was taken from the hospital to his home early this week. Mr. Gillis was a carpenter. He was born in Montgomery County and had lived here all his life. He is survived by his widow, one son, Harry Gillis, and a stepson, Cecil Hudson. He was a member of the carpenters union and Modern Woodman lodge. Mr. Gillis was one of a family of 10 children and the first of the 10 to die. Funeral services will be held from his late home at 2 Sunday afternoon with burial in Oak Hill cemetery. - kbz
