William C. Gilliland, 79, prominent county farmer, died at his home 3 miles south of here on St. Rd 43, Wednesday night at 11:10 o’clock following a short illness. Mr. Gilliland was the son of Samuel and Sarah Miller Gilliland. He was born March 24, 1858 on a farm five miles south of this city. His marriage to Dora D. Stith took place on March 1, 1883. The survivors include a son, Manson Gilliland, a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Snyder; a grandson, William W. Gilliland, and two great grandchildren, Robert Lee and Nancy Joan Gilliland. Funeral services will be held at the home 3 and ½ miles south of here Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. - kbz
