Samuel A. Gilliland, 75, retired farmer and grocer, died Thursday in Culver Hospital. He had been in failing health several months. Born Oct. 14, 1882, in Montgomery County, Mr. Gilliland was the son of James and Maggie Gilliland. He married Martha Simpson. Mr. Gilliland had engaged in farming most of his life. He also was in the grocery business in Crawfordsville several years. Surviving are a son, Leonard Gilliland; two grandsons, Donald and Robert Gilliland, and great-grandchildren, all of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Rev. J. Noble Carothers will be the officiating minister.
