Squire Gilkey, Sr., half brother of Aaron Gilkey of this place, died at his residence three miles south on the Waynetown Road about 10 o'clock last Sunday morning of scrofula. He had been sick for a long time, having been taken with pneumonia, but after that disease was apparently conquered, he was attacked with scrofula, which went to his heart. The funeral discourse was preached by Rev. ER Johnson at the Newlight Church to quite a large audience, after which the body was interred in the cemetery adjoining - transcribed by kbz
