Word has been received of the death of Ruth B. Gilliland, 75, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Crawfordsville. She died Tuesday in her residence.
Mrs. Gilliland was a native of Crawfordsville and a retired employee for R.R, Donnelley & Sons Co. She was a Women's Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant. Her memberships included the Order of Eastern Star where she was a past worthy matron of both the Athens Chapter 97 of Crawfordsville and the Myrtle Celeste Chapter 231 of Baton Rouge. She was a past grand page of the state of Louisiana where she moved in 1977 from Crawfordsville. She received the Grand Cross of Colors from the GES Rainbow Girls.
She was born Feb. 15, 1919, to Laura Miller and Ed Bryant. She married Robert S. Gilliland Dec. 4, 1945, at Pennsylvania. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Laura G. Gilliland of Baton Rouge, and a sister, Georgiana Meymann of Cincinnati.
Services were held Thursday at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East with the Rev. Don
Hall officiating, Internment was in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
