Hillsboro, Oct 12 - Elsie Gerhart, formerly a school teacher at Waveland died at Winchester at an early hour this morning, according to information received this morning by her father, who is a school teacher here. Last spring after two years satisfactory service, she received an appointment as home econics demonstrator for Randolph County and has been making her headquarters at Winchester. She was taken ill with Spanish influenza a few days ago which rapidly developed into pneumonia. She was 28 years old and was very popular throughout the county. She was a graduate of Bradley and Indiana University and is survived by her parents and four sisters, Elizabeth, who has a government position at Purdue; Mrs. Vera Conrad of Michigan; Miss Veda, a Purdue student, and Miss Ora Ruth, a pupil in the Lafayette public schools. The remains will be shipped to the home of William Carmen at Mellott. - kbz

Miss Elsie Gerard, 29 years old, a home economics demonstrator for Randolph County, died in Winchester last Friday night from pneumonia following an attack of influenza. She was formerly a teacher in the Waynetown schools, and was a sister of Miss Elizabeth Gerhard, who has taught in the New Richmond schools for the past 3 years. Miss Gerhard was a graduate of Indiana and Bradley Universities, and is well known over this county. The deceased is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Gerhard of West LaFayette and four sisters: Elizabeth, who is working for the government at Purdue University; Mrs. Vera Conrand of Michigan; Miss Cuba Gerhard, a student at Purdue; and Miss Ora Ruth, a student in the LaFayette public schools. The body was shipped to Mellott, the former home of the deceased and was taken to the home of William Carman.
