LADOGA – Ernest Leo Gephart, 65, father of Ladoga funeral director James Gephart, died suddenly Friday night at his home in Indianapolis. Mr. Gephart and his wife, Frances, who survives, resided at 1432 N. Bellview St. The couple were married on Jan. 1, 1949, in the Broadway Baptist Church. The deceased was retired from the Indianapolis Transit System where he had been employed for 23 years. In addition he owned and operated the Draft Spot restaurant in Indianapolis for over five years. He was a member of the Pittsboro Masonic Lodge. Born near Otterbein, Ind., on March 10, 1903, he was the son of Ernest and Rebecca Anna Gephart. The mother survives and is a resident of New Market. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betty Feeney of Brownsburg and Mrs. Judy Kurtz of Munster; three brothers, Everett of San Clemente, Calif., Arnold of Franfort and Max of Rochester, Mich; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Myers of New Market, Mrs. Lela Shelton of Rochester, N.Y., and Mrs. Maxine Hopkins of Nashville, Tenn., and 13 grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Conkle Funeral Home on West 16th Street, Indianapolis. Rev. Orville Sutton of the Crooked Creek Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday. – jlr
