Byron Charles Gegner, 54, owner and operator of Barney's Floor Covering Shop in Crawfordsville, died Wednesday afternoon at his home, 606 Whitlock Ave. He had been ill several months. Mr. Gegner was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion Post 72 and the Russellville Masonic Lodge, where he was past master. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific. The son of Charles and Elizabeth Ball Gegner, he was born on Nov. 7, 1916, on a farm south of Waynetown. He was married to M. Christine Dahlgren on Dec. 11, 1938. Survivors include his wife, three sons, Charles of Crawfordsville and Gregory and Jeffrey, at home; a daughter-in-law, Deanna; five sisters, Mrs. Vera Shade of Hillsboro, Mrs. Mary Probst of Plymouth and Mrs. Edith Ford, Mrs. Charlotte Hudson and Miss Ilah Gegner, all of Crawfordsville, and two brothers, Harold and Robert of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and a twin brother, Myron D. Gegner. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Lucian Robinson officiating and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. - kbz
