ROACHDALE – Zannie Zaring Garriott, 93, of Greencastle, a former resident of Roachdale, died this morning in Putnam County Hospital at Greencastle. Mr. Garriott was a member of Roachdale Presbyterian Church and Roachdale Masonic Lodge. He had been a telegrapher for Monon Railroad. He had served as ASCS of Putnam County and had been a farmer in Montgomery and Putnam counties. He was a former schoolteacher in southern Indiana and had attended Indiana State Normal College at Terre Haute. He was born Oct. 12, 1886, in Washington County, a son of James W. and Eliza Nancy Zaring Garriott. He was married Aug. 6, 1908, at Salem, Ind., to Daisy Matney, who preceded him in death. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Marylou Garriott of Greencastle; a daughter and son-in-law, Maxwell and Hilda M. Barnett of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Perkins Funeral Home at Roachdale with burial in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-5 p.m. or 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. – jlr
