Waynetown, Oct 3 - Samuel Garland a highly respected retired farmer died at his home here yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock of a complication of diseases. Mr. Garland had been ill for the past several months but it was only this week that his sickness was regarded serious.
Mr. Garland was more than 66 years of age and had lived all of his life in Waynetown township and Waynetown. He was born March 26, 1858 near here the son of Adam and Elizabeth (Tolle) Garland. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge here and active in fraternal circles. Surviving are two sisters, one brother, a niece and two nephews. His brother, Charles Garland, resides here as does one sister, Miss Frances Garland. Another sister, Mrs. Anna Price, lives in Newton, Ill. Mrs. OC Watson of Crawfordsville was a niece of the deceased and his two nephews, Howard and Alonzo Pickett reside in Lebanon.
Funeral service will be conducted from the home in Waynetown at 11:30 o'clock Saturday. The Rev. Bowman pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church of Crawfordsville will be in charge of the funeral rites with burial in the local cemetery - kbz
