The many friends of the family of Luther Garland, who left this county several years ago to locate in Kansas, will be shocked to learn of another calamity which has overtaken this unfortunate family. Last summer Mrs. Garland suffered from a stroke of paralysis and her brother, W. W. Watson, and his wife went from this city to attend her bedside. They were there several weeks and had been at home but a few days when the startling news came over the wire that the strong and robust Luther Garland had been killed by a fall from his horse. It would seem that the family misfortune would end there, but it did not. Tuesday evening Mr. Watson received another message stating that his sister’s grown son, Will Garland, had been instantly killed by accidental shooting from a shotgun. It is presumed the accident occurred while the young man was hunting. Luther Garland, as were all the members of this family, was raised in this county, residing most of the time while here in Brown Township. - s
