Benjamin Garland, a former citizen of Brown Township, died in El Centro, Cal. on May 30. Death came very suddenly but friends here have had no particulars. Mr. Garland was b. NW of Waveland and was one of a numerous family, of whom only one brother Perry Garland survives. He has been engaged in the stock business most of his life. He lived for a number of years on the old Garland homestead, now owned by CA Dryer. Before coming there, he lived in Wichita, Ks. He is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Campbell; by one son, Verne and one granddaughter, Josephine Garland. - kbz
