Funeral services for Bert S. GARDNER, who died at the home of his son, Vernon Gardner in Russellville Saturday evening were held from the Christian church in Russellville Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. James G. VanBuren. Burial was in Russellville cemetery. Mr. Gardner had been ill for the past several months and his death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Gardner was born in Russellville Nov 26, 1876 and spent most of his lifetime in that community. He was a son of George W. and Alice J. Gardner, pioneer settlers of northwest Putnam County. He was united in marriage to Miss Rose Etta Clodfelter in Russellville on November 10, 1898. He is survived by the son, Vernon and daughter-in-law Mildred Gardner, 4 grandchildren, Norma, Marilyn, Carolyn and Paul Gardner. Mr. Gardner was employed by the B & O Railroad over a period of 20 years and had also been employed in the Russellville post office for 28 years as substitute mail carrier. He was a charter member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and was a member of the Masonic and Knights of Pythias lodges and the Christian Church. -- kbz
