Eliza V. GALLOWAY

She is not dead, but has simply passed beyond the mists which blind us here into that serener, sublimer sphere where winding sheets are never woven and funeral bells are never rung; blessed land beyond the sky, to reach it we must die." Gone home to that blessed land, Eliza V. Galloway, in her 90th year of her age, on March 13, 1923, at 8:45 o'clock passed away from earth to her eternal rest in the full hope of a blissful immortality. Her illness began the latter part of the month of Oct 1922 and was exceedingly painful and her sufferings were very great. Eliza V. Galloway was b. Jan 5, 1834 and was one of a family of 10 children b. to William and Sarah Craig Galloway all of whom have now passed away. All of her life was spent in Crawfordsville and she saw it grow from an unimportant village to the prosperous city that it now is. She never marr and for more than 50 years Aunt Lide, as she was familiarly known made her home with her nephew and niece, Mr. & Mrs. WT Harlan who never wearied in their efforts to render her life pleasant and comfortable during her residence with them. Aunt Lide was an earnest and consistent member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Crawfordsville, having united with this Church in the year 1867, and was perhaps its oldest member. She was universally respected and loved for her many excellent qualities. She will be greatly missed. God's finger touched her weary frame and she sleeps. Dying for years, she now begins to live. Hers was a beautiful life, and although an invalid for many years, she accomplished much good in an humble, earnest way. Death is not rare nor burials few, but when the spirit of this lovable woman passed from earth, the angels in heaven must have joyfully welcomed her up there. - kbz
