Archibald Thomas "A.T." Galloway, 90, Newtown, died Sun., March 27, 1971 at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. He had resided there two years. He retired in 1956 after operating the Chevrolet dealership in Newtown for 38 years. Born June 21, 1886, near Stone Bluff, he was the son of John and India Ward Galloway. In 1908, he married Bess Leora Gross, who died July 18, 1976. He attended Stone Bluff schools. He had resided in Newtown 58 years. He was a member of the United Methodist church and Richland Masonic Lodge F & AM, both of Newtown. He was a member of the Newtown Band for 40 years. Survivors include a son, Carl of Indianapolis; a brother, O.K. of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a great great grandson. A son, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Graveside services at Osborne Prairie Cemetery near Stone Bluff, with the Rev. Donald Watson officiating. Archibald Thomas Galloway died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 1977, at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville where he had been for two years.
He was born June 21, 1886 near Stone Bluff, the son of John and India Ward Galloway. He married Bess Leora Gross in 1908. She died July 18, 1976.
He attended Stone Bluff School, was a member of Newtown United Methodist Church, Richland Lodge F&AM, and a member of Newtown Band for 40 years.
He was a retired Chevrolet dealer, retiring in 1956, after operating the agency in Newtown for 38 years. He has been a resident of Newtown for 58 years.
He is survived by a son, Carl Galloway of Indianapolis; one brother, O. K. Galloway of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. A son and daughter, two sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Osborn Prairie Cemetery with Rev. Donald Watson officiating. – thanks to S
