FLORENCE "Elva" HUGHES GALLATIN

Mrs. Florence "Elva" Gallatin, Montgomery County native, died at 2 a.m. Thursday at her home at 1008 E. Elmore St. Mrs. Gallatin, 49, is survived by her husband, Charles. The couple were married on March 29, 1938, in Perrysville. The deceased had been employed for 25 years by Indiana Bell, principally in the Traffic Service Department. She was a member of the company affiliated society, the Indiana Bell Pioneers. She also held membership in the Milligan Memorial Presbyterian Church. Born on March 7, 1919, she was the daughter of Hiram and Una May Hensley Hughes. The mother survives and is a resident of Crawfordsville. Mrs. Gallatin was a 1936 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. Surviving besides the mother and husband are a son, Charles "Tom" Gallatin of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Janet Stoneking of Danville, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Rena Cox of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Ethel Patterson of Lafayette and Mrs. Mary Jane Wilson of Livermore, Calif.; two brothers, Kenneth Hughes of Crawfordsville and Norwood Hughes of Indianapolis, and four grandchildren. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Graveside rites, in charge of Rev. Charlotte HoTopp, pastor of Mrs. Gallatin's church, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the memorial section of Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to the Cancer Society. - jlr
