SAMUEL F. GALEY

Source: Crawfordsville Wekly Review Sept 27, 1907

While reading the evening paper at his home at 312 East College Street shortly after 7 o'clock Tuesday night, Samuel F. Galey, a life long resident of this county, suddenly expired as a result of an attack of heart trouble. Mr. Galey was sitting in the chair at the time. Death came to him as easily and as quietly as though he had just fallen asleep. He was dead several minutes perhaps before Mrs. Galey noticed that he had dropped his paper to one side and she thought that he had fainted when she attempted to arouse him. Dr. Keegan the family physician was immediately called but he found that Mr. Galey had died suddenly and unexpectedly. For the past two or three years Mr. Galey has been a sufferer from organic heart trouble and for the past 10 days has been under the care of the physician. Dr. Keegan saw him on the streets Tuesday morning and Mr. Galey said he was feeling better than he had for several days. Mrs. Galey also says that there was apparently in better health all day Tuesday than usual. His death came to a great shock to his family. Mr. Galey was born in Montgomery County, 69 years ago and had lived in the county ever since. He was a carpenter by trade and had followed his trade up until the time of his death. He leaves a wife and one son, Howard Galey of Indianapolis. William Galey, living six miles south of the city is a brother. Mr. Galey was a member of the Masonic fraternity and will be laid to rest in the Mason Cemetery. Funeral services Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence conducted by Dr. D.B. Duncan, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. - kbz
