Source: Crawfordsville Journal Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana 1 Nov 1939 p 2 Los Angeles, Calif Nov 1 Mrs. Della M. Galey, widow of Verd (sic - Virgil) M. Galey, formerly of Crawfordsville, Indiana and a niece of former congressman Michael D. White also of Crawfordsville died at the Pahl Hospital [sic - St. Vincent DePaul Hospital] here Sunday after an illness of several weeks. The immediate cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Galey was 71 years of age. Verd Galey, late husband of the deceased was at one time connected with the Ben Hur Life Association of Crawfordsville and the family was prominent in that city. Mrs. Galey had taught in the Los Angeles Public Schools for more than 20 years and also taught in the schools of Toledo, Ohio and Spokane, Wash. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Doris G. Smith of Inglewood, and two sons, Virgil M. Galey of Los Angeles and Donald G. Galey of Spokane, Wash. She also leaves two granddaughters, Jean and Virginia Smith and 9 other grandchildren. Funeral services delayed by the illness of Mrs. Smith will be conducted Thursday Nov 2 at Grace Chapel in Inglewood (sic - Inglewood Park) cemetery.
