Mrs. Emma G (Alvey) Furr, 78, stepmother of Lewis Linderman of Lafayette, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, after an extended illness. She had lived in that community many years and had taught grade school at Youngs Chapel, Smartsburg and East Union in Montgomery County. She retired in 1954 and lived at 801 S. Green St, Crawfordsville. Born in Elizabethtown, KY, she came to Indiana as a child, attended Valparaiso University and graduated from Indiana State College. She was married in 1917 to Fred Linderman who died in 1951.  She was married to Newell Furr in 1955 and was a 50-year member of the First Methodist Church at Crawfordsville. Also surviving with the husband are a son, Edward Linderman of Grand Rapids, Mich; another stepson, Kenneth Linderman of Crescent City, Calif; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edith Walker and Mrs. Edna Holtz of Fredericktown, Mo; two brothers, Harvey Alvey of Upland and Clarence Alvey of New Ross and five sisters, Mrs. Lydia Cheek of Kentland, Mrs. Lora Durflinger of Remington; Mrs. Maude Unger of Brook; Mrs. Pearl Carter of Crawfordsville and Miss Nelllie E. Alvey of San Diego, Calif. - kz
