COVINGTON — Mrs. Lena Leota Fulford, age 91, of Smartsburg, step-mother of Mrs. Russell (Susie) Franklin, 207 Fifth St., Covington, died Monday afternoon, May 27, in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, after a long illness. A native and life resident of Montgomery County, she had lived in the Smartsburg community the last 20 years. She was born Sept. 27, 1876, the daughter of James and Lila Pickering Decker. She was a member of the Smartsburg Christian Church and its Ladies Aid and the Daughters of Union Veterans. She was married first to Howard Whitaker on Dec. 16, 1906 and he died in 1933. On July 8, 1939 she married Sylvanus Fulford, who died in 1946. Surviving are — seven grandchildren; four step-daughters and four step-sons. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Lucille Biddle and one brother, Bert Decker. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home.--waw

Mr. and Mrs. John Royer attended the funeral of her grandmother, Mrs. Lena Leota Fulford, 91, at Crawfordsville Interment wa sin Wesley Cemetery. She died in Culver Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Royer had resided with her grandmother before her marriage. Mrs. Fulford had lived in the Smartsburg community for 20 years and was a member of the Smartsburg Christian Church and Daughter of Union Veterans.
