Peter Fudge died suddenly Monday morning at his home in Ladoga from a hemorrhage of the lungs. He had been down to his restaurant the night before until nine o’clock and after he came home suffered a severe coughing spell which ruptured a blood vessel, causing his death at 1 o’clock Monday morning.

The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon at the home at 2 o’clock, the services being conducted by the Masonic Lodge, of Ladoga, of which he was a member. The funeral address was by Rev. G. W. Switzer and interment was in the cemetery at Ladoga.

Mr. Fudge was born 44 years ago in Eaton, O., and came to this county when a small boy, attending school at Parkersburg, and later teaching school at the same place. He was married about twenty two years ago to Miss Florence Goodbar, of Ladoga, and she with four children survives him.

Mr. Fudge was a member of the Masonic fraternity, being a Knight Templar, and was also a Knight of Pythias. He was a great worker in the Democratic Party and in 1896 was a candidate for the legislature, but was defeated by Vincent Craig. For several years he was president and manager of the Ladoga telephone company, but the last year had been engaged in the restaurant business in Ladoga, where he owned considerable real estate.

Mr. Fudge was a man loved and respected by those who knew him for his hearty and infectious good nature and will be missed, not only in the family circle, but in business and political circles. - s
