Waynetown, Nov 20 – Rev. Vernie E. Fruits, 52, pastor of the Lizton ME Church and native of Waynetown died Monday noon at the church parsonage in Lizton.  He had been in declining health several months and seriously ill two weeks. Rev. Fruits was a member of the Northwest Indiana conference of the ME Church and his first change was at Pence in 1920.  Later he served at Leroy, West Lebanon, Lizton-Advance, Ambia-Pence and for the past two years at Lizton. The widow, Leota Bennett Fruits, two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Bowman of Akron, Ohio and Miss Lois Fruits, an Indianapolis nurse, his mother, Mrs. Rosa Fruits and two brothers, Walter of Waynetown and Ollie of Crawfordsville survive.  Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Lizton Church, followed by a service at 3 o’clock at Wesley Church here Rev. HT Ivey officiating, with interment in Wesley cemetery near Crawfordsville. - kz
