Waynetown - Omer R. Fruits, 54, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday in Robert Long Hospital at Indianapolis. He had been hospitalized 9 weeks. Born 2 July 1904 near Alamo, he was the son of George and Rhoda Shafer Fruits. He was married 12 April 1924 to Alma Miller at Covington. Mr. Fruits was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, K of P Lodge, OES No. 435 and Masonic Lodge No. 302. He attended Alamo schools. Mr. and Mrs. Fruits set up housekeeping at Alamo. They moved to Rockville where he was caretaker at the State Sanitarium for 17 years. They moved to Waynetown in 1947. Survivors include the widow, 3 daughters, Mrs. Joyce West of Montezuma, Mrs. Sue Spence of Waynetown and Nancy at home; a son, Keith at home; 3 sisters, Mrs. Elsie Smith of Indianapolis; Mrs. Lydia Cruea of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Ida Berryman of Belle, Mo; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 children and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Smith. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Servies Funeral Home, Waynetown; burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 6:30 p.m. Monday. - kbz
