Alamo - Mrs. Maggie May Fruits, 84, lifelong resident of the Alamo and Yountsville communities died at 1:20 a.m. Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Charles Selby in Alamo. She had been ill 3 years and seriouly sick since March. Born July 14, 1879, she was the daughter of John and Cinderella Baker (Balser) Smith. She was married in 1904 to John Fruits who died in 1961. Mrs. Fruits was educated in the old Yountsville school. She belonged to the Alamo Christian Church and Ladies Aide Society of the church. The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Selby and Mrs Evelyn Haas of Crawfordsville; a son, Carl L. Fruits of Crawfordsville; three granddaughters Mrs. Barbara Eppert, Mrs. Vera Dye and Mrs. Glenda Needham, all of Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Bird Fruits and Mrs. Kate Tucker, both of Alamo and Mrs. Mary Fruits of New Richmond. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys; three children and two brothers, Wilbur Smith and Carl Smith. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. John R. Servies assisted by Rev. Morris Finch in charge. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery. - kbz
