Jonathan Fruits, once a well known resident of this County, died yesterday at Killmore, just above Frankfort, of lung fever. Mr. Fruits formerly lived at Smartsburg and went from there to Pennsylvania several years ago. He just moved back from that state and had not yet got his goods unpacked until he was taken sick. He was 68 years old and leaves a wife and two children, and a brother at Waynetown. The body will be brought to this city tomorrow morning for interment in the Odd Fellow's Cemetery. - kz

Jonathan Fruits, 75, resident of this city practically all of his life, died at the home of his son, Rev. VE Fruits at Ambia, Ind Tuesday night about 6 o’clock. Death was due to heart disease and came following an illness of about a year. The deceased was well known in the community., For many years, he lived at 312 West Pike Street.  He operated a sawmill for a number of years, was a member of the Crawfordsville Police Force for a time and served as deputy constable.  Mr. Fruits was a member of the Church of Christ of this city.  He also was a member of the Waynetown Knights of Pythias lodge.  The deceased was born near Waynetown April 23, 1854, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Fruits.  His marriage to Rosella Keys took place in 1876.  The survivors are the widow, who is an invalid and lives at the home of the son in Ambia, three sons, Rev. VE Fruits of Ambia, Ollie B. Fruits of this city and Walter Fruits of north of Crawfordsville, 8 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a sister, Sarepta Fruits of North Judson, Ind and three brothers, Bert of North Judson; Ambrose at Waynetown and George of Indianapolis.
