WAYNETOWN - Gertrude L. Fruits, 77, of Waynetown, a former home-care nurse aide at Culver Hospital, died Thursday in Ben Hur Nursing Home here. She was a member of Oak Hill Tabernacle Church. Mrs. Fruits was born near Crawfordsville in the old Mt. Zion community on March 14, 1900, a daughter of Sam and Nettie Demoret. She married James W. Fruits on November 4, 1916, at Waynetown. Surviving are her husband; a son, Ed of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Elizabeth) Waye of Crawfordsville; a brother, Charles Demoret of New Market; a sister, Mrs. Faye (Lula) Houston of Muncie; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Services will be at 10;30 a.m. Monday in Thomas Funeral Home here with the Rev. Lester McGruder officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.
