Waynetown - Fred E. Fruits, 79-year-old prominent farmer died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been ill only about 14 hours. Born Jan 23, 1881, five and one-half miles south of here he was the son of Noa and Susan Lewis Fruits. He was married July 16, 1907 at Crawfordsville to Dessie B. Parker. Mr. Fruits was a member of the Christian union Church, a 50-year member of the K of P Lodge and charter member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. He served 16 years as sec-treas of the Farm Bureau and was trustee and assessor of Ripley Township eight years ago. He lived his entire life on the farm where he was born. Survivors include his wife; a son, Orville M. Fruits of Rt 1, Romney and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at Servies Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Servies in charge. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6:30 p.m. Monday.
