Charles M. Fruits 65, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Culver Hospital. He had been ill since suffering a heart attack New Year's Day. A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Fruits was born April 18, 1887, near Alamo, son of Noah and Susan Fruits. On November 25, 1908, he was married to Mary Smith, who survives. He was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church. Active in the Masons, Mr. Fruits was a past master of the New Richmond Logs, No 604, F&AM and a past patron of New Richmond Chapter NO 377, Order of Eastern Star. For 25 years he was employed at the New Richmond elevator. However, for the past 2 years he had been engaged in carpenter work. Survivors in addition to the widow, include 4 daughters; Mrs. Grace Haire, Mrs. Marietta Perry and Miss Ruth Fruits, of New Richmond and Mrs. Patricia Ferguson, Trieste, Italy; 3 sons, Ralph of Lafayette and Herbert and Charles, both of New Richmond; 3 brothers, Delmar of New Richmond and Fred and Merritt, both of Waynetown and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at New Richmond Christian Church by Rev. Guy Tremaine; burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Masonic rites also will be conducted at the church. Friends may pay thier respects at the King Funeral Home, Linden.
