Forest Fruits June 14, 1937-Feb. 16, 1992 SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Forest C. “Chet” Fruits, 54, of Springfield died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday at Merry Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Fruits was employed at the Navistor for more than 32 years. He worked as a programmer at the Fort Wayne plant and later as an expediter at the assembly plant in Springfield. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Local United Auto Workers office union. He was a veteran of the Navy. He was born June 14, 1937, at Crawfordsville to Forest C. and Edna Mae Billings Fruits. He was married to Serena "Sandy" Knafel on July 29, 1983. She survives. Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Lois Marie, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sons, Scott of Enon, Adam, at home, and Andy, serving in the Navy in Scotland; two sisters, Maxine Higgins of Greencastle, Ind., and Kathleen Fishbein of Albuquerque, N.M.; three brothers, Samuel of Laurel, Md., David of Indianapolis and Steven of Albuquerque; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1945 and a sister, Patty Williamson. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Jackson Lytle & Ingling Williams North Limestone Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4p.m. today. Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday in Alamo Cemetery at Alamo.
