Everette H. Friend, 56, of Crown Point, Ind., died at 1:45 a.m. Monday in St. James Hospital at Chicago Heights, Ill., where he had been teaken after an accident Nov. 14 in Chicago’s suburban Bloom Township. Friend was the second victim of the accident which also claimed the life of an Illinois man. Friend formerly operated a restaurant in Russellville and at one time was a baker in New Market. Born near Ladoga, Friend’s parents were Theodore and Fannie Myers Friend. He married Virginia Parker of Linden. He was a member of the New Market Christian Church and was affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America Lodge. Survivors include two sons, John Friend of Chicago and Michael Friend of Cedar Lake, Ill.; a daughter, Susan Friend of Cedar Lake; three brothers, Ellis C. Friend of Crawfordsville, Buford J. Friend of New Market and Arthur B. Friend of Darlington; five sisters, Ethel L. Hester, Opal M. Rice and Nellie W. Swearingen, all of Crawfordsville, Pauline M. Reeves and Eva A. Gentry, twin sisters of New Market, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Two died in infancy and Mrs. Effie M. Cosby. Funeral services will be held at the Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market. Details of the arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the funeral home.

New Market -- Funeral services for Everette H. FRIEND were held Wednesday afternoon at Noble-Reeves Funeral Home. Rev. Calvin Miller was in charge and was assisted by Rev. Fred Dean. Organ music was played by Mrs. Orville Clifton. Burial in Ladoga Cemetery. Pallbearers wer Leonard Cosby, Kenneth Cosby, Lowell Friend, Cale Friend, Dale Friend, Larry Gentry and Lyle Cosby. Mr Friend, former resident of the county died Monday morning in Chicago.
