Clyde M. French, 76, of 1601 Elmore St., died Monday afternoon in Culver Hospital. Mr. French was a retired milk hauler and had lived in Crawfordsville the past three years. Prior to that he made his home near Waveland. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Sarasota, Fla. He attended Browns Valley School. Mr. French was born Aug. 1, 1904, near Ladoga, a son of Elmer and Mable Reynolds French. He was married to Charlotte Roberts, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Elmer of Phoenix, Ariz., and Robert of South Wellington, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. James (Irma) Elmore of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Dennis (Janice) Divan of Danville, Ill., and Mrs. Kenneth (Marilyn) O’Neal of Whitewater, Wis.; a brother, Earl of Waynetown; four half brothers, Ernest of Ladoga, Ralph of Waveland, Eddie of Crawfordsville and Clarence; three half sisters, Mrs. Opal McKinstry of Ladoga, Hazel Hartung of Fort Myers, Fla., and Gladys Fletcher of Mace; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday in Powers Funeral Home at Crawfordsville with the Rev. Glenn Brigman officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery near Waveland. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. smc
