WAYNETOWN – Evelyn Myrtle Freeman, 57, of Rt. 1, Waynetown, died at 4:15 a.m. today after two months illness with cancer. Mrs. Freeman was a member of the Christian Church. She received her education in the Sidell, Ill., schools. She was born Feb. 2, 1915, at Sidell, a daughter of Oral and Mollie Gildersleeve. She married Harold Freeman on Feb. 17, 1934. Surviving with the husband and mother of Sidell are five sons, Harold Robert of Anchorage, Alaska; Merrill C. of Lafayette, Dale Milton of Flora, Larry of San Francisco and Jeffery Ray, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Murietta Slaven of Lafayette and Mrs. Margaret Ottinger of West Point; a brother, Oral Gildersleeve of Pontiac, Ill.; two sisters, Julia Cardinal of Danville, Ill., and Grace Allhands, of Georgetown, Ill., and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and a son. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Powers Funeral Home at Crawfordsville with burial in Oakland Cemetery near Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.--waw
