Richard L. "Rusty" Frazier, 81, Mellott, died Sept. 12 in his residence three months after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Mr. Frazier served in the Navy from 1941-47, participating in landings at North Africa and Japan. He also served at Trinidad as a member of the Naval Reserves from 1951-52 during the Korean War. He was a 1939 Pearl (Ill.) High School graduate and attended Minnesota Bible College, Valparaiso Technical Institute and Valparaiso University, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He was born Feb. 5, 1922, at Centralia, Mo., to Leslie Dwight and Jennie Pearl Clarkson Frazier. He married Delores Stephens in New Antioch Church, Mellott. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Gregory, Westfield; a daughter, Kimberly Frazier, Kokomo; three brothers, Robert, Hemet, Calif., Donald, Raytown, Mo., and Charles, Cloverdale; two sisters, Pauline Shaffer, Quincy, Ill., and Wanda Robinson, Eureka, Ill.; and two grandchildren. Four brothers and a sister are deceased. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 15 in Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, Kokomo, with burial in Sunset Memory Garden Mausoleum.
